Company Profile
Copenhagen Bombay was founded in 2006 by film director Anders Morgenthaler and producer Sarita Christensen. Their ambition was to create a production company and animation studio with a special focus on entertainment for children and young people. By giving special attention to new talents, original stories and unique design the profile of the company soon emerged. Everyday adventures work hand in hand with playfulness, nonsense and humor. Stories are tailored to age groups respecting their capacity for learning and laughing. And parents will have fun too… Today Copenhagen Bombay’s projects are to be found in the cinemas, on TV, in bookstores, on DVD’s and on the web, and the list of new strong brands is continually expanding.
A New and Innovative Partnership
After collaborating on the feature film Princess (the opening film at Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes 2006) film director Anders Morgenthaler and producer Sarita Christensen entered into the visionary partnership and founded Copenhagen Bombay. The aim was to create an uncompromising production company. A company that could develop original stories for multiple platforms; feature film, television series, animated film, documentaries, games, books and mobile services among them. A company that dared to give new talents the opportunity to tell their stories, but at the same time a company that could be commercially viable while still dedicated to an uncompromising artistic ambition.
Today Copenhagen Bombay has completed several projects for cinema, TV and digital platforms and has won numerous awards, establishing itself as a well renowned and innovative multiplatform production company. Numerous of projects have been completed and some of the recent include ”The Great Bear” - an animated family feature film (premiere February 2011), by debut director Esben Toft Jacobsen, which was selected for the Generation Kplus section in the Berlinale, and received widespread international interest.

Sarita Christensen
Sarita Christensen started her career in the film business at Zentropa in 1997. In her first years she worked with budgeting, production planning, script breakdowns, casting, location scouting, researching, co-ordinating extras etc. During that time Sarita also produced several workshops, no budget projects and art films.
Sarita has during her time at Zentropa assisted Peter Aalbæk Jensen, Per Nielsen, Ib Tardini, Hans Hansen, Marie Bro, Steen Rasmussen, Michael Wikke, Jens Arnoldus, Karen Benzon, Tove Jystrup, Lene Nielsen and Henrik Danstrup amongst others.
Over the last 5 years Sarita has worked with a wide selection of directors, screenwriters, actors, casters and has handled the contact of many locations.
From January 2004 to May 2006 Sarita was head of the independent company Zentropa GRRRR, which she established in January 2004 under the Zentropa Corporation. Zentropa GRRRR’s primary objective was to make entertainment for children and youth.
In August 2006 Sarita Christensen and director Anders Morgenthaler founded Copenhagen Bombay. The production company’s main focus is developing original stories for children and youth, producing Feature films, TV series, Animation films and using the available digital platforms. Copenhagen Bombay is funded in collaboration with Egmont Denmark/Nordisk Film, who owns a third of the company. The board members are Allan Hansen, Henrik Sanders and Sarita Christensen.
